I think it would be far more exciting if she decided not to go for either of them: certainly less predictable. Maybe I've just read too much, but conventional endings just seem so... dull. Once in a while it'd be nice if the main characters didn't end up as a couple, or the nerdy girl didn't suddenly remove her glasses and have the jock fall for her, or the AI and the human get together inst- I mean, um, if, um, er, ooh, credits!"

Eva continued to nod along, genuinely interested in what the girl is saying; appreciating the surprising over the predictable or satisfying wasn't something she had really ever considered before. But then the girls words derailed and Eva couldn't help the curling grin and small laugh.
"Well, I hadn't thought about it that way." She replied, shifting in her seat and looking back to the screen, watching the credits Ellie had pointed out. "Perhaps you are right."

Eva turned once again to meet Ellie's gaze. She has been through all this before. The curiosity is so starkly familiar that it's almost painful to watch. Had this been what she had sounded like to him? When she had confessed the same want? Guilt surged through her circuits as she thought about the reason she had taken Ellie up on her offer of a film - the selfish desire to have Daniel see her happy with someone else, someone new. But it was dampened by something else... Dampened by the want to show Ellie just how good a feeling love can be. She pushed away all thought of her ex and all guilt about how they had gotten here. They are here. That's what matters.
"I could help you with that..." She offered, quietly, staring into Ellie's eyes.

The lights above the almost empty auditorium flicker once and then the entire room is flooded with light, at the same time the screen shuts down on the end of the credits, leaving it stark and white.
Laurie stumps around the box, making sure that everything shuts down and is tidied away. Deliberately not looking down into the auditorium to watch their reactions.

The sudden blinding light breaks the eye contact between Ellie and Eva quite abruptly, and Ellie finds herself realising the film is over, the credits are gone, and Laurie probably wants to head off. But hadn't Eva just said something really really important? 'I could help you with that'? What did she mean, did she- ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Well that's just great, thinks Ellie, I suddenly get what she meant and now the moment is almost certainly gone. Maybe I should say something though, ask for clarity? SAY SOMETHING

The minuet the lights flicker on it takes all of Eva's will power not to storm out her seat and take out Laurie in a fit of anger. But somehow she was pretty sure that wasn't going to win her any favour with the confused girl before her. The moment gone she sags in her seat and lets Ellie flounder for words.
"We should head back to campus." She say's instead, completely ignoring Ellie's stumbling. She'll bide her time. There is no need to rush this.

Flustered, Ellie nods, "Yes, um, probably a good idea," and stands up before looking under her seat for her bag. Except, it's gone! It's not there! She panics and looks around for it, under the seat, under the next seat, before suddenly she remembers leaving it in the library. Even more flustered than before and embarrassed by what Eva must be making of her, she puts her hands on the seats in front and leans forward, hanging her head and mumbling, "I'm an idiot..."

For a moment Eva cocks an eyebrow, concerned by Ellie's sudden strange behaviour but it doesn't take long to put two and two together. Theres a small laugh followed by the gentle touch of Eva's hand on Ellie's back. "No you're not. You were caught up in Emily and the commotion... come on, I'll walk you back and we can get it before they close the library for the day?"

Ellie looks over her shoulder at Eva and smiles through her blue hair, "Thanks, Eva," she says, and stands up proper again before leading the way out of the row, "Shall we go get Laurie?"

"No." She say's bluntly as she snaps out of her revery. "No," She repeats, this time with a smile, "no she knows her way out. In fact I bet she's already gone."

Laurie has left, locking the door behind her. Not out of the theatre complex, but up, into the studio space, which should be empty, she needs to clear her head.
