Given the amount of hate being ladled onto this film series I've decided to post up the reviews I wrote at the time. I have not edited these since the OP and I will admit it was an earlier time and I was a younger blogger at that point.

Moonlight review - no edits since 2058
Hello dear readers!!! Welcome back to my blog to celebrate the release of Moonlight onto the big screen!!!!!! odjwfnwfowjo It was soooo good! But I’m getting ahead of myself...
As you all know I've written extensively before about the books. Right back from then the first Iceman draft was leaked onto the internet. Like only a true fan would! And now, friends, I sit down and try and work out how to tell you HOW AMAZING THIS FILM IS!!!!!11!!!!1111!!!!
I wrote a draft of this yesterday as soon as I left the cinema but have waited until after my second viewing (which was this morning (STILL EPIC btw)) before editing and posting.
First off fellow fans I can confirm that this film IS EVERYTHING WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!! Vinnies, you will be pleased to know Leo Vincent is FANTASTIC as Pad, and I for one welcome his shining torso onto giant cinema screens worldwide. AND Kulan Chu as Alan?! Lets just say I am SO looking forward to the opening Lodge scene in Midnight!!!!! the chemistry…. *Sigh*
The film opens with the B-E-A-Utiful scene of Jackie arriving in Birdhill on her scooter (SO glad they went location for this!), establishing the already familiar geography of the town; the police station, the 6th form college (not high school) and the caravan park on the outskirts where all loyal fans know THAT car boot sale scene is going to be set if the film stays true to the book (spoiler - they do!!!). The second time round I was watching this establishing scene and there are an awful lot of relevant characters visible there, including Spoon the school bully!!!
The plot follows the book as flawlessly as we could hope, introducing Pad (Leo has been working OUT! Oh man, I just want to rub my face against his abs all day!) and Jacky’s immediate attraction to him (though who can blame her! What I wouldn’t give to be Ramona Lee, getting to kiss both Leo and Chu!), quickly followed by the introduction of the clan, leading up to the antagonism of Kane and the transition away from rural Eire to the chaos of London for the finale.
I’m not going to go into more detail here, a scene by scene breakdown will be following as soon as I have a copy I can pause and rewind as needed (though OF COURSE I have another ticket lined up for tomorrow!), and once a few more of you have seen this film. Suffice to say that I can already tell that this film is GROUNDBREAKING!!!, and will remain a fantastic and rewatchable film for the rest of our lives! Also, anyone else think Chu would make a great Seraph in the next series of BABYLON!?

Midnight Review - no edits since 2059 Oh. My. GOSH!!!!!!1!!!!! I am fresh out of the MIDNIGHT PREVIEW(!!!!!) sitting in this pokey little coffee shop just so I can let you all know that MY LIFE IS NOW COMPLETE!!!! As soon as the film opens you can see that the change of director has only HELPED the series and I’m heard that she is committed to producing another film already which means BOOK THREE IS IN THE WORKS!!!!! I nearly cried during the argument between Pad and his father before they leave, about the repercussions of Kane’s attack on London, and Birdhill and howhedoesn’twanttoleaveandouwfebfvljebfvpiebhpewng…. and then I DID CRY when Jacky found out he was gone! She was just standing there in the rain! Outside the Mac Tire’s beautiful house! On the bluff overlooking the town!!! (btw: Is it possible that Eire got even more beautiful?!) OH! I WAS RIGHT when I said that Chu would have great on-screen chemistry with Ramona Lee!!! (I personally don’t believe the rumors that the heat is off screen as well - they are both FAR too professional for that!) The entire thing starts as soon as LUNA ATTACKS (UGH! This film is full of so many beautiful people!!!) and suddenly he is there, chasing her away with a flare (I love that that stuck from the original!!!) and then he carries Jacky unconscious back to THE LODGE (SO PRETTY!!!!) from the hilltop and stays with her HOLDING HER HAND until she wakes *sigh* (Seriously, I reckon Woden must be Team Alan because the Sparick in this film is GLORIOUS!!!) The Lodge though! THE LODGE!!!!! It is everything we have been waiting for!!!! As soon as Jacky wakes she asks to refresh herself and STEAM ROOM scene!!!!!! Those abs, OH GOSH THOSE ABS. *cough* Where was I? oh yes! Jacky stays at the Lodge while the Hunters fortify the place against Luna, creating MUCHO SEXUAL TENSION between her and Alan (Sparick <333), while Pad comes back to Birdhill, finds out Luna attacked and believes Jacky is dead. MY HEART LITERALLY BROKE!! Never has the choice between Alan and Pad been more REAL!!! I mean, Sparick is amazing and I SHIP IT SO HARD!!! But TEAM PAD 4 EVA! OTP! I WILL GO DOWN WITH THIS SHIP! AND HIS FACE! WHEN HE THINKS SHE’S DEAD!!! GIVE LEO THE OSCAR NOW! (I’m so pissed he missed out last year ) You know, I can’t actually write any more now thinking about that scene I am too broken. Having got home from the coffee shop (and reassured myself that Leo can’t miss out this year) I can now continue this review. The film leaves Pad failing to cope with the loss of Jacky (Their love, SO PERFECT! I CAN’T EVEN) and leads us through the streets of Paris as the Garou hunt their prey. It’s so Pretty! Seriously Woden is a goddess behind the camera!!! Then the Mac Tire are there and its Werewolf vs Werewolf in the most amazing scenery and you can see how much Pad just wants the Garou to tear him apart since he believes she is dead! In the books it was tragic but on screen?! It was like I was RIGHT THERE, feeling it with him!!! I just wanted to reach out and hug him and give him a cup of cocoa and tell him everything was going to be fine and alright and uuuuuuuuuugh I CAN’T GET OVER THIS!!!! But anyway...as we all know of course not all of Mac Tire travelled to Paris. FRAN!!!!!! Ugh I love Fran so much!!!! And its here that she comes into her own, managing to meet up with Jacky and tell her how much Pad misses her, how hes trying to get himself destroyed and how he won’t stop until he can see her again. I’m not going to spoil the finale, though if you’ve bothered to read the books (AND WHY WOULDN’T YOU) you know how it plays out. The Garou balance the safety of the Mac Tire and the resolution, the WELCOME Jacky receives is PERFECT. The only thing left to say is BRING ON BOOK THREE WODEN!!!!!!!

Sunset review - no edits since 2060
I don’t even…. Okay guys, that was all wrong...
You know me well by now...you know how much I love this series and the time I have dedicated to it, and to writing about it for you. And … I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but I HATED this film. This film only prequel has RUINED EVERYTHING FOREVER!
If we needed proof that Woden was a fan of Sparick this is it, Pad is barely in the film AT ALL!!!! And he’s set up as a villain!!! </3 LIFE OVER
Yes Ramona is as beautiful as ever, and yes Chu is still a god (AND I WAS RIGHT ABOUT HIM BEING GOOD IN BABYLON) but THIS FILM IS NOT PART OF THE MOONLIGHT SERIES!!! I REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT!!! It’s horror, and gore and violence, its not in any of the books, it ruins the friendship between Fran and Jacky by making them sisters WHAT EVEN? It just doesn’t make SENSE!
The worst thing is, if every fan feels the same way you know they will never ACTUALLY make book three… And that is WORSE than the existence of this ABOMINATION of a prequel.
I’m going to go watch the first two on repeat and pray that Leo at least get’s an oscar for the costuming.

Ugh, I remember these horrendous films, actually it was on the way back from one of these films that...nevermind. I always thought the series would be so much better with Vampires. I mean it makes sense for Vampires to sparkle under the moonlight. As creatures of the night beholden to the moon always, and not just the full moon, vampires are true reflections of the moon just as the moon is the reflection of the sun. It makes sense for them to reflect sunlight and sparkle. But that CGI nonsense of wolves just feels so unnatural.

Hmm. That opens up a pretty damn pertinent query, though - namely: why stop at vampires? If we're opening the floodgates to a bunch of random mythological trivia, then I'm all for sparkling sea monsters, myself. New YA trend? You heard it here first, folks!

I'd be kinda interested in seeing someone actually do a decent rewrite of the original Iceman pitch... Am I right?

Oh. My. GOSH! I READ your reviews when you first published them!!!! *cough* I mean, I remember your reviews but didn't put two and two together as I kinda dropped out the fandom after the 3rd film. There was just too much hate flying around for Sparick shippers. A re-write of the original Iceman pitch would certainly be something...

Now days my hate has narrowed to a fierce hate for Woden and the damage she caused the fandom, rather than the ship itself, because while I am, always have been and always will be a Team Pad girl I respect and enjoy other ships, especially Kane/Alan, and not just because that leads the way for the one true ship...
