While Eva wasn't officially a member of the Computer Club, she had spent a fair share of her years attending the school cooped up in the soulless, windowless room in which it lived. Under the flickering florescent lights and surrounded by backlit computer screens, she would let the older and more experienced students tune her systems if they seemed to be lagging. She had even let one mess about with giving her a second power - though that had not gone well and the nano-bots where quickly returned to their orignal purpose.
She flicked on the light switch now with a smile, holding the door open for Ellie behind her and ushering the girl in before heading over to the computer she usually hooked herself up to. "Log in, I'll do the rest." She said, shirking off her jacket and grabbing numerous different wires from around the room. She had no idea of their names or fuctions, but had spent enough time being plugged in that she knew what to do with them at least. It didn't take long before she was all wired up and just waiting for Ellie.

With the room fairly hot from all the machines and lack of windows, Ellie too removed her jacket as she dropped her back under a table and logged onto the machine Eva was wiring herself into. She opened up the terminal and nervously began tapping away at the keyboard. What was she doing, she'd never done something like this before? All the machines she'd worked with were certainly nowhere near the level of an AI, and she definitely didn't have a crush on any of them. This was different, this was...
"Ok, um, I think I can see the processes that are running," Ellie said, tentatively, looking at the process tree currently filling her tree, "I think... if I just... --pretty... oh... oh wow... that's..."
The tree was beautiful: a web of code and programs that danced and flickered in front of Ellie's eyes. She was truly lost for words.

Eva felt embarrassment flow through her as Ellie's voice became light with awe. Her eyes were fixed solidly on her shoes and her cheeks actually seemed to colour slightly.
"My creator was talented, I guess." Eva muttered, knowing that it was in fact her mother that Ellie was complimenting. She chewed her lip, trying to be careful of her thoughts least some of them flash across the screen.

"That's one way of putting it," mumbled Ellie, before daring to touch the keyboard again and starting to tap away, a bit more confidently now. "But then again, whoever created you only set up the data structures... you're the one who's been using them... linking them and... ooh, that looks like something I shouldn't touch..."
She started muttering to herself, her eyes entranced by the lines of code now flooding her screen as she delved deeper into the running scripts of Eva's mind, before suddenly she stopped herself and looked up, "Sorry, this is really intrusive, I should stop."

Eva had thought Ellie was pretty before. Her smile, her laugh, her blush... But watching her work? Eva was trapped in the small crease between Ellie's eyebrows. Caught in the slight tug of teeth chewing on lower lip. Enwrapped by the slight tilt of her head.
Ellie was beautiful.
It was a second before the AI realised she was being spoken to.
"Huh? Oh... Well... I guess? I mean, I've not really let anyone poke around that deep before, but I don't mind it, if its you."

Ellie's face flushed with colour as her cheeks turned very red and she quickly ducked down behind the monitor again lest she say or do something phenomenally stupid.
She was currently in the part of Eva's mind that seemed to handle memories, and so she trod delicately. To her relief she found she didn't have write (or delete) access to any of the files: that was reserved exclusively for Eva and root (presumably her creator) but she did find she had read access...
She couldn't quite resist the temptation to see what these looked like and so searched for timestamps recently enough that it wouldn't be intruding, and found one from halfway through the film. She copied across the file from Eva's mind to her terminal and opened it up expecting to see visual data of watching the Spectre, but she was somewhat surprised to find visual data of a girl with blue hair sitting down with a half empty bowl of popcorn, with a piece halfway to her mouth but not quite there as she was gripped by what was happening on the screen.
So //that// was why she wasn't paying attention.
Ellie smiled, and looked up at Eva briefly to see whether she'd noticed. There was no reason she should have done -- reading was presumably par of the course for this -- and Ellie was about to start looking elsewhere when her curiosity got the better of her and she decided to take a look at the currently updating memory: what Eva was looking at and thinking about not 30 seconds ago...

A small smile creeped onto Eva's lips, watching the other duck back behind the monitor and hide from view. She would pout if it wasn't so adorable.
Her object of fascination now stolen from her, Eva's mind began to wonder freely. The poorly lit room had always been less of a sanctuary to her then either the music room or the theatre complex; more like a doctors clinic or a mechanics. She had no fond memories, but no bad ones either so her mind steady became blank.
Spectre of the Opera.
The thought came to her out of the blue, though she smiled at the recent memory. Ellie had really seemed to be enjoying herself and while Eva had been struck by the beauty of a concentrated Ellie, a happy and relaxed Ellie was still just as pretty. The number of times she had thought about just leaning over and... and she almost had when Laurie had switched on the damn lights. Eva felt annoyance prickle through her again. She knew Laurie had done it on purpose. She always rooted for Daniel after a breakup and Eva always let herself be swayed... But not this time. While she had at first only said it was over to get Daniel to be as clingy as she was, she was starting to wonder if she did really want it to be over. Her eyes flick to the monitor which Ellie is hidden behind. A smile curls her lips. She couldn't explain why she felt so pulled to the girl, but she was.

Ellie closed the file. Oh wow. She had figured Eva liked her, but hadn't really believed that she LIKED her -- like LIKE liked her -- but that... that...
It took a lot of self control not to launch herself into a hug with Eva. She wasn't sure that the protocol they were currently following quite allowed for that, but felt she ought to do something... she...
She realised she'd been stationary for quite some time now and slowly poked her head up to look at Eva over the top of the monitor again, exiting out of the various files she'd opened and disconnecting. "That was... um... wow."

"Find anything helpful?" Eva asked, feeling the connection sever and delinking her self from the computer. She drummed her fingers on the side of the desk ideally, wondering just what Ellie had been looking at to get that kind of response. "Most of the others spend ages poking at the code and have never been quite that enthused. Perhaps you should share what you found? Perhaps its something they don't know about?"

"Useful?" said Ellie, logging off the computer and attempting to sound nonchalant, "No.. no... I didn't find anything that useful, I was just... impressed by the whole system... um..."
She looked up, and her gaze was caught in the eyes of Eva and she immediately caved -- she couldn't withhold this from her, even though it was a total invasion of privacy: it wasn't fair and she really needed to know.
"Ok," she began, "so please don't kill me, but I found a file full of memories. I didn't look at anything that wasn't just us, but I got some from when we were watching the Spectre and then got the one you were updating right at that moment and... and I... well..." she started looking down at the floor and mumbled.
"Nobody's ever called me beautiful before."

The room was suddenly silent, Eva's fingers frozen away from the table as she processed what Ellie had just said. Her eyes widened.
"I, er..." She was lost for words, unsure what to do. On the one had, Ellie had totally breached her trust in snooping though those particular files. On the other hand... She liked that Ellie knew. She drew away slightly. "I... You... You are beautiful." Eva bit her lip, looking at the floor also. "But perhaps, next time, ask?"

Ellie nodded, vigorously, "I kinda didn't expect it to work, to be honest -- it's a bit freaky that someone could have read access to your memories: I know I'd be spooked by it if it were me... sorry, again," she looked down at the floor, "I kinda wish there was a way you could see into my head to know what I was thinking... you know, to make us even."

"I wasn't aware that people could." Eva admitted, shrugging her shoulders. "Perhaps I'll ask Theodore to put a block next time he's running a check."
Her hand came up to the back of her neck, rubbing in a sort of nervous tick kind of fashion. "You could, you know, just tell me?" She pointed out, glancing at the other awkwardly. She felt exposed. Eva wasn;t the most open or straight forward with her emotions... this was new ground for her and she really didn't know how to act.

Ellie's heart was racing. Tell Eva? Like, how she really felt? She didn't entirely know how she really felt to start with: I mean, she thought, I've fallen head over heels for you, that's for sure, but I mean, what does that even //mean//? I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know BRAIN DO SOMETHING
She screwed her eyes up and quickly said, "Ithinkyou'rethemostbeautifulpersonI'veevermetnotjustinappearancebutinpersonalityandmindandIthinkImayhavecompletelyfallenforyouwhichsoundscrazygivenwebarelyknoweachotherbutIstartedsayingthisandnowIcan'tstoppleasedon'tjudgeme"

Well, that was different. Eva blinked a few times and was silent for a few seconds. About as long as it would take to listen to the rush of speech slowed down enough to actually understand.
"Oh." The sound was one of stunned surprise. "I..." She hesitated, her lips pulling into a shy smile. "I'm not going to judge you. I'm in a similar position... I feel drawn to you Ellie." she chewed her lip, debating weather she should cover the fact she had started this with this intention of making Daniel jealous, but she really didn't want to ruin the moment so kept quiet.
